Quebec City ESL Teachers Network In Membership Crisis

Quebec City ESL Teachers Network In Membership Crisis

This year marks the ten-year anniversary of The English Second Language Teachers’ Network (ESLTN) which has supported the needs of ESL teachers for a decade.

It is the only ESL teachers’ resource and network in Quebec city.

Ironically though, despite a huge demand for ESL teachers in the Quebec region, the network is facing a membership crisis.   Without a network, teachers may find themselves feeling very isolated with few resources available to them.  ESLTN is a place where teachers can turn to for job leads and brainstorm strategies on a variety of issues or challenges that they face in the classroom, in private language schools or self-employment.

Every year ESLTN hosts numerous free workshops on many topics such as old-fashioned drills or games in the classroom and keeping up with and using new technology.

ESLTN depends on a strong membership to develop workshops and design information sessions to meet the needs expressed by the members.   However, over the past two years the number of members in the network has fallen below a sustainable level.

At the ESLTN Annual General Meeting on Friday, September 24th, members will address this crisis of membership.

ESLTN is actively seeking new members and inviting past members to rejoin.

The 2010-2011 membership dues are $15.00.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on September 24th  at 7:00 at Champlain-St. Lawrence College, 790, Nérée-Tremblay, Sainte-Foy.
