Quebec City Fall Fest 2010 A Resounding Success

Quebec City Fall Fest 2010 A Resounding Success

On Saturday September 18th 2010, Quebec High School hosted the Quebec City Fall Fest.

Commercial companies, community groups and members of the public turned out in force to ensure that this year’s event was a huge success.

Fall Fest was organized by the Voice of English-speaking Quebec (VEQ) and the Central Quebec School Board.

By looking at the amount of people who came through the doors and seeing just how many stands there were, it was clear that some serious work had gone on behind the scenes.

The groundwork done by the organizing committee before the event and the willing band of helpers on the day must be praised.

Without them this great day in the Anglophone community calendar would not have been possible.

LifeinQuebec.com had the chance to speak to Ed Sweeney, one of the team behind the event, and he told us that this was the first Fall Fest for 10 years.

Very hard to believe and here’s hoping this becomes an annual event. And judging by the amount of visitors between 11am and 4pm, LifeinQuebec.com is sure it will be.

There were many giant inflatables for the kids, a bbq (the proceeds of which went to charity), performances by the Shannon Irish Dancers and by ‘The Acousticolics’.

Door prizes for the visitors were also provided by the commercial partners.

The visitors had the chance to stop by the following stands:

CEGEP St. Lawrence, Quebec Irish Heritage, Quebec Chronicle Telegraph, Quebec City English bookstore AngloStore.com, Ste-Foy Elementary School, Quest Toastmasters, Quebec City Churches, 78th Fraser Highlanders, Valcartier Family Centre, TD Canada Trust, The Morrin Centre, Quebec City English bookstore La Maison Anglaise, Drama Groups, CEDEC, Eastern Quebec Learning Centre, St. Patrick’s High School, Quebec High School, CBC Radio, Diva Decors and others. (If we’ve missed anyone or you’d like your organization listed above hyperlinking to your website, please leave a comment at the bottom of the article).

With the 2010 Quebec City Fall Fest drawing to a close at 4pm, it was then time for the clean up operation to begin.

To everyone at the VEQ, Quebec High School and the Central Quebec School Board (and anyone else we’ve unintentionally forgotten to mention), please accept a few pats on the back from us. Very well deserved.

We’re already looking forward to 2011.
