Quebec City’s Gaudreau to participate in World Dodgeball Championships

Quebec City — Following his performance in April’s National Dodgeball Tournament in Halifax, Hubert Gaudreau has been selected to play for Canada’s alternate team, Team Maple Leaf. Gaudreau’s selection highlights the emergence of competitive dodgeball in the province, as well as the development of talented players from leagues such as the Quebec City Dodgeball League.

Team Maple Leaf
Made up of Canadian dodgeball’s best up-and-coming players, Team Maple Leaf could potentially participate in
the World Championships’ preliminary rounds, which will take place in Toronto in October. Additionally, team
members are also used as alternates for Team Canada, which won a gold medal in the men’s division and a silver
medal in the women’s division at the last World Championships that took place in Australia.

History
Dodgeball has grown in popularity over the last few years, with leagues throughout Canada and the world being
organized. With the quality of play improving, the World Dodgeball Federation organized the first World
Championships in 2011. Dodgeball Canada continues to be a major force on the international scene, winning
men’s and women’s gold medals in international competitions. Founded in 2011, the QDL has over 200 active players at both recreational and competitive levels of play.
