Quebec Cyclists Ride Well, But Cavendish Takes It

Mark Cavendish won again in the fifth stage of the Qatar Tour, Thursday, as Quebec cyclists Dominique Rollin, Hugo Houle, and Guillaume Boivin obtained the same time as the British rider.

Cavendish, from the Omega Pharma-Quick-Step team, cycled 154 km from the stage before last in 3:11:11 hours. He triumphed for a third consecutive day in this competition sanctioned 2.HC by the International Cyclist Union.

79 other participants crossed the finish line for the final sprint at the Madinat Al Shamal. Rollin, from the FDJ team ranked 27, Houle from AG2R La Mondiale placed 56th, and Boivin, member of the Cannondale stable, came in 69th.

There was a lot of speed throughout the race. After an hour fifteen, about 60km was covered and the average speed was 50-55km/h.

Cavendish accentuated his advance in the general ranking. He is now positioned before the American Brent Bookwalter (BMC Racing) by 15 seconds.

Rollin, from Boucherville, came 54 seconds behind the first rider home, while Houle and Boivin, from Longeuil, are 111th and 114th on the list so far. The last step of this Qatar Tour will end on the Corniche Doha.

The 136 cyclists still in the race will cover 116 km on Friday.
