Quebec Drivers – Speed Radars are Watching

Fast drivers will have to reduce their speed and be vigilant in residential zones of Quebec City due to the four new photo-radars which will be placed in many different places.

They will track speeding in 39 spots. A surveillance camera installed at red lights will also be working to record any illegal action.

Quebec City will be a pioneer in this security measure in the province.

The City decided to group many streets and intersections in residential zones where a gadget will watch the streets. Cité-Limoilou, Les Rivières, Sainte-Foy-Sillery-Cap-Rouge, Charlesbourg, Beauport, and Haute-Saint-Charles will have the chance to experiment this new tool which helps to reduce speeding. Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures and Ancienne-Lorette will also have the chance to have photo-radars.

About 1,000 sign panels will be installed on the territory to indicate the presence of photo-radars.

The money collected due to the emission of bills will be given to the Road Security Funds and will pay for the cameras and installation fees.
