Quebec City (Quebec) 11 December 2014 – This winter season marks the 15th year that the Ice Hotel (L’Hotel de Glace) has opened its doors to local residents and tourist trade in the area.

The structure is situated on the old zoo property in Charlesbourg, which is vacant during the winter.

Since it has been 15 years that the hotel has existed, this year will be dedicated to its history and to the workers who have been there to ensure its construction over the past 15 seasons.

There will be a special room with pictures of the hotel from its beginning until today including photos of those people who helped it materialize over the years.

The hotel will open January 5th and remain operational until March 22nd.

An official opening ceremony will be presented on January 16th with a special tribute to the builders and organizers of the annual event which attracts visitors from around the world.

The hotel has been known to even celebrate wedding ceremonies.

The hotel has 44 rooms, a bar, a chapel and a meeting room.

Besides the party for the official opening on January 16th, there is a special sugar shack gathering being planned for the closing of the establishment on the weekend of March 21st and 22nd.
