Quebec March Against Euthanasia

Le Rassemblement québécois contre l’euthanasie (RQCE) will organize a spring march against euthanasia under the theme of “L’euthanasie, chez nous, non merci (Ethanasia here? No thanks).”

The event promises to be the largest mobilization against euthanasia since the Quebec government announced that it was preparing to introduce a bill on medical assisted suicide. The public debate on this issue has not yet occurred and the government wants to pass a secret law that will permanently change the delivery of this service in a definitive way.

One is for palliative care, an area of healthcare that focuses on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients. This is a danger to the legalization of euthanasia in Quebec,” said Dr. Claude Morin, an emergency physician at Saint-François d’Assise Hospital.

Thousands of people are expected to be there on Saturday at noon for speeches on the Plains of Abraham. The walk will begin around 1:45 pm at the Musée des beaux-arts du Québec and it will end infront of the National Assembly.
