Montreal (Quebec) 20 January 2015 – It was bound to happen one day with so many mogul and acrobatic skiers coming from Quebec and this last weekend it came true for three of the province’s top competitors. Mikaël Kingsbury, Phillipe Marquis, and Marc-Antoine Gagnon all from Quebec, managed to take gold, silver and bronze all at the same time for the dual mogul competition for the world championships held in Kreischberg, Austria.

An all Canadian podium win was in Kingsbury’s sights and according to the athlete; “ it was just a matter of time before we pulled it off.”

Their only close competitor was a Frenchman named Anthony Benna, and once he was out of the way it was a shoe-in for the Canadians.

Kingsbury took the gold, Marquis, silver and Gagnon skied away with the bronze.

A podium sweep for a same country in freestyle skiing is a rare event and only Finland managed to attain that feat some 16 years ago in single moguls. It was a first for dual moguls.

As for the women’s competition, Quebec’s Justine Dufour-Lapointe came away with the gold medal for singles and after having made a slight error when competing against the American Hannah Kearney in the duals she grabbed silver. Pretty darn good, we’re thinkin’!

Quebec freestyle skiers have always done well when representing Canada, whether it be at the Olympics, or World Championships, they have always done Canada proud.

We all remember Alexandre Bilodeau’s exploits at the Sochi Olympics when he successfully defended his gold medal win from four years before in Vancouver, n’est ce pas?

Go Team Canada!
