MONTREAL — A 94-year-old Montreal woman is recovering from minor injuries after a thief broke into her home while she slept.

Police say a man broke into the home in the Lasalle suburb at about 7:45 p.m. Monday and began searching through the home.

The thief tried to tie up the elderly woman before leaving but she managed to escape and get help from a neighbour.

She was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The suspect fled before police arrived and police have been meeting with possible witnesses.

The suspect is described as a white male, tall, with a slim build and about 25-years-old.
