Rouge et Or Football Breaks New Records

Montreal (Quebec) October 26, 2014 – FOOTBALL – The Rouge et Or Football’s record-breaking streat continued Friday night at Percival Molson Stadium, where Laval defeated the McGill Redmen 53-14. It was a 25th straight win for head coach Glen Constantin and his team.

Quarterback Richard Hugo once again opened the way for the Rouge et Or. Hugo, who holds the team record for the rookie with the highest number of touchdowns in a season, launched three against the Redmen for a total of 22, surpassing the previous league record of 20 held since last year by Jordan Heather of Bishop’s Gaiters. With 379 yards, Hugo totals 2440 and now holds the team record in this area. The former monarch, Benoit Groulx, had accumulated 2,422 in 2006. Hugo Richard completed 24 of 39 passes without throwing a single interception.

Defensively, the Rouge et Or added a new record in terms of sacks in a season.

Felix Faubert-Lussier has also benefited from this passage in Montréal to register his name in the Rouge et Or record books. Number 21 has captured two of the three touchdowns from Richard Hugo, bringing his total to nine this season. Laurent Lavigne-Masse had captured as much in 2007.

Other visits to the end zone by the Rouge et Or are the work of Antony Dufour (10 yards receiving), Guillaume Bourassa (4 yards rushing) and Christopher Amoah (8 yards rushing). Amoah led all rushers in the game with 161 yards.

The Rouge et Or defense once more bottled opponents. The Redmen were forced to concede no less than seven safeties in the game. Guillaume Tremblay-Lebel led the team with 4.5 tackles, including four solo. Note that the Redmen’s 14 points occurred in the fourth quarter. Laval already led 20-0 after 15 minutes.

No more than one duel left in the regular season for the Rouge et Or, next Saturday against Montréal Carabins.
