Rumours Have Janet Jones of Lévis for the PLQ

Levis (Quebec) September 14, 2014 – Following the resignation last August of Christian Dubé, member of the national assembly for the Coalition Avenir Québec, the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ) has apparently been hard at work picking out potential candidates for the vacant Lévis riding seat. Rumours abound that Janet Jones, municipal councillor for the City of Lévis and well-known member of the city’s executive committee, would be slated to make the jump to provincial politics in the eventual by-election.

Lévis Mayor Gilles Lehouillier, himself a former PLQ MNA for the riding of Lévis, has not outright confirmed the rumours, but has prudently stated that he encourages his councillors to make the jump to provincial politics “if they want”, and did not deny that an important pillar of his team was considering running for the office.

The primary person interested, Mme Jones has remained tight-lipped. Sources in the know have reported to the media that her name was indeed on the PLQ shortlist, but that ultimately the decision would come from the party leadership soon.
