Saturday 22nd September 2012 – Car Free Day

Saturday, September 22 is CAR FREE DAY, and citizens will have access to Lévis alternative transportation means for free.

Transit will be free for everyone on the RTC and STLévis bus network as well as onboard the Ferry Corporation of Quebec .

New this year, Paratransit Capital customers are also entitled to this offer.

Twenty businesses in the region will encourage those who will not go without their vehicle on Car Free Day, by offering discounts.

In addition, people who formally commit to leaving their car behond for the day on September 22 and choose a different mode of transportation as an active or group, by entering the www.jembarque.org , get a chance to win attractive prizes including a bicycle, iPad, or some skydiving.

Car Free Day marks the end of the 21st Week of public and active transportation, which runs from September 16 to 22, 2012.

This week’s theme aims to educate citizens and policymakers in the Quebec region and to underline the need to change their travelling habits and opt for more sustainable solutions that promote quality of life in neighbourhoods.
