Sentencing hearing in January for co-accused in Quebec triple murder case

TROIS-RIVIERES, Que. — The second of two teenagers who pleaded guilty to three counts each of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder will begin sentencing hearings in Quebec court in January.

The youth pleaded guilty in June to taking part in the Feb 11, 2014 triple homicide that claimed the lives of two sisters aged 22 and 17 as well as a 17-year old boyfriend.

Neither the accused, then 17, nor the victims are named in this news story because of provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The other co-accused, Kaven Sirois, was sentenced in October to an adult sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole for 10 years

Authorities have said jealousy was considered to be a likely factor in the case.

The three-week hearing begins on Jan. 12.
