Spiderman Seen in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré

Some light bulbs are more difficult to change than others.

Like the four that sit on top of the two towers of the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica.

On September 1, while the weather was mild and there was not a breath of wind, Claude Tremblay, the sanctiary’s electrician, sought the help of Quebec’s very own Spider-Man to carry out this delicate operation.

They first set up a series of ladders inside the basilica, before opening a door on the tower. They then climbed the great outdoors. A climb totalling 90 metres.

Once up, they changed the defective bulbs before replacing the red domes, which protect them from all weathers and also serve to warn aircraft of the height of the church. Fortunately, this type of bulb lasts.

This perilous ascent was immortalized by the camera of a co-worker, carpenter Michel Charland.

You can see the full video of the operation on YouTube.
