Squat Basse-ville demands apology

Squat Basse-ville demands apology

The Squat Basse-Ville’s general manager, Louise Fortin, is asking for an apology from the mayor and his councillor, Chantal Gilbert for questioning her managerial methods in February and March this year.

Mrs. Fortin sent them a notice last week with the help of the legal firm Jean-François Bertrand Avocats in which she asks for public apologies.

In a meeting in February, she had asked Regis Labeaume to support her organization morally to have more provincial support. At that time, the organization had financial difficulties. The mayor and his councillor refused because they thought the administration was doubtful.

In her notice, Mrs. Fortin states that the mayor’s declarations caused great damage to the Squat’s reputation. His words harmed the organization’s clientele and the firm itself. Mrs. Fortin is therefore asking Mr. Labeaume and Mrs. Gilbert for public apologies.

We’ll see what happens.
