Stabbing in Old Québec: Gaby Poirier Marois Accused of Assault

Quebec City (Quebec) 28 June 2015 – Assault charges were filed against Gaby Poirier Marois, an 18-year-old man suspected of having stabbed another in Artillery Park on Thursday night.

Gaby Poirier Marois appeared Friday afternoon at the Québec City courthouse following the altercation which took place at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at the corner of D’Auteuil and McMahon, in Old Québec. The accused is facing three counts of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and assault causing injury.

His alleged victim, a man also aged 18, was stabbed in the abdomen with a knife. When the police arrived, the victim was bleeding profusely but his life was not in danger.

The prosecution did not object to the release of the accused. The young man, however, must meet certain conditions, including that of not communicating with his alleged victim. His case will return to court on 4 September.
