A KV Racing IndyCar

Another amateur race car driver from the province has just been called up into the ranks of the professionals making him part of what is becoming a tradition in the Quebec race drivers society.

Mikaël Grenier, who is a native of Stoneham, just received his contract with KV Racing, which runs in the IndyCar series, and he is very excited about it all. Grenier, who is only 21, now becomes a member of the private club of drivers from Quebec who race professionally around the world and include such famous names as Gilles Villeneuve, his son Jacques, Alex Tagliani, Patrick Carpentier, and Andrew Ranger all of whom are active on the international racing circuits. Whether it be Formula 1, Indy, or LeMans, all the Quebec drivers have been on the podium at least once in their careers and young Mikaël expects to see himself there someday soon due to his apparent competitive nature.

For the moment Grenier is only a member of the team and won’t necessarily be driving this year, but it’s all in preparation for 2015 when he expects to get behind the wheel himself and show his stuff. KV racing hired him because they were impressed with his speed and vehicle control when he did some trial laps at Sebring last year.

Racing teams are always on the lookout for new drivers and the young Grenier seems to fit the bill for KV Racing which is partly owned by Jimmy Vasser, a previous Indy Racer himself. Mikaël will be at every race listening, and taking notes concerning the life and times of a race car driver and even secretly hopes that if one of the present drivers of the team falls ill or is injured he may be able to take the wheel sooner than expected.

Mikaël is hopeful that all the experience he gets this year will help him feel more confident when he eventually gets in the cockpit of a car with his name on it.
