Strong Winds Cut Power to Capitale-Nationale and Beauce

Quebec City (Quebec) 12 March 2015 – Several Hydro-Québec teams were at work late on Saturday to restore power to remaining residences in Beauce, because of the strong winds that damaged or dropped Hydro-Québec poles over the weekend.

Saturday morning, nearly 2,400 customers were without power in the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches. Some residential areas of the Île d’Orleans, the coast of Beaupré, Lotbinière and Lévis were notably affected.

However, the situation quickly returned to normal, but fifty residents of St-Prosper, Beauce, were the last to be reconnected. “The teams are on hand, the situation should return to normal in the afternoon,” said Hélène Fortin, spokesperson for Hydro-Québec.
