Superbowl Sunday: Let’s Go Go Go

Superbowl_NFLBeyonce, commercials, thousands of fans – it must be the 2013 Superbowl.

This has never happened before – for first time in Super Bowl history, two brothers will face off against each other as head coaches. The Baltimore Ravens’ John Harbaugh and San Francisco 49ers’ Jim Harbaugh go head to head after impressive runs through the playoffs, thus providing Super Bowl XLVII with one of the greatest pregame storylines in the championship’s history: brother vs. brother with the Lombardi Trophy going to the victor.

Who’s ready for the big game Sunday? I know I am. If you are interested in the human performance side of the sports, like me, you will have a lot to look forward too. For me it’s the beauty of the game, the game without a tomorrow, the conclusion to the season.

Two weeks ago when I saw Tom Brady during the game, I knew the Pats were going to lose, something in the eyes of the players was not there. Yeah I know like rocky in the film. But that popular theme is near what happens in real life. The body language of an athlete tells a story. If you are willing to listen to what it has to say.

The first big component is the overall energy of the person. Are they jittery or focused. Do they move with confidence or in a concerned manner?  When everything clicks and all goes well it’s the best thing to watch because you can practically feel the flow (another useful cliché).

The second component is the acting out of the game plan. Is it going as prepared? Are the plays producing the results that the coaches planned? If not, will they be able to make changes to counter the other team? When the execution is perfect it’s when the magic happens and all the players seem to come together in unison for a common goal.

Have fun Sunday and think about the players, the team. And of course enjoy the commercials.
