The Aurian Haller Band in Concert – November 4th, 2011

The Aurian Haller Band In Concert at Le Vieux Bureau de Poste de Saint-Romuald

Friday, November 4th

The Aurian Haller Band will be playing at Le Vieux Bureau de Poste de Saint-Romuald on Friday, November 4th. In addition to songs from their recent album, Normal Town (April 2011), the band will be playing some new songs from their upcoming album, The Dark Room, which will be released in 2012. Selections from Normal Town played on over 55 radio stations over the summer and reached number one on CKRL this fall.

The album Normal Town is comprised of 13 songs, which draw on folk, rock and jazz influences echoing the music of Leonard Cohen, Andrew Bird and Nick Drake. Aurian Haller’s warm voice showcases the words of this award-winning poet, whose accolades include the National Magazine Award for poetry, the Malahat Review Long Poem Prize, and nominations forArc Poetry Magazine’s poem of the year contest, and the CBC Literary Awards. His poems have been published in the United States, Ireland, Australia and Canada. Aurian has published two books of poetry: Song of the Taxidermist with Goose Lane Editions (2011) and A Dream of Sulphur with McGill-Queen’s University Press (2000).

“Haller’s haunting voice and lyricism reflect a deeply personal journey. The band’s unique blend of folk rock and jazz creates a harmonic landscape that reaches out and grabs you by the heartstrings. Close your eyes and walk.” – Jacqueline Czernin, CBC Radio One.
