The Remparts Slip First Part of Series

Quebec City (Quebec) 29 March 2015 – The power play not working, the pressure of the 2-3-2 format, the stress of the series, and over-insistence on waiting for the perfect play cost the Ramparts the first part of the series pitting them against the Screaming Eagles of Cap-Breton. The Remparts were defeated by the mark of 3 to 2.

“We should play better than that. Those were not great goals they scored,” said Repmarts coach Philippe Boucher.

In the first period, the Remparts accumulated twice as many penalties as the Screaming Eagles. Still, it is the latter that took the lead and were the only ones to score during the period.

The visitors started digging in advance with the aim of Dillon Boucher who took advantage of a lucky bounce of the puck. However, the Remparts quickly countered by the hand of Adam Erne who scored with a shot on reception after a pass from Kurt Etchegary.

The Eagles, however, took a two-goal lead in the second period when Evgeny Sveshnikov beat the defensive Remparts power play. Loïk Leveille and Alexandre Belanger assisted on the play.

In the third period, Vladimir Tkachev recovered a rebound and scored with a little over six minutes left in the game. The Remparts put all the pressure of the world and withdraw their guardian for more than a minute at the end of the match, but it was not enough.
