Trunk full of cannabis found

Saint-Césaire (Quebec) September 22, 2014 – Three individuals were followed and stopped by police (SQ) late Sunday night, in the Montérégie region, when someone called 911 reporting seeing a vehicle parked in a field where normally there would not be any reason to park there. When hearing the police arrive the three men scrambled into their car and sped off with the police giving chase.

The suspects were finally stopped in Chambly, south of Montreal, after reinforcements had arrived. One of the occupants of the car took off on foot and the two who remained in the vehicle were arrested when police found the trunk of the car was full of hashish (cannabis) plants.

The two individuals arrested are aged 21 and 27. The suspect who escaped on foot will be found quickly, according to police, as they have his identity and will pick him up, probably today.

The three men risk to be charged with several different illegal drug offences, like trafficking or growing, or even producing hashish when their case goes to court.

The Sureté du Québec would like to remind the agricultural community to call them if ever they see suspicious goings-on in their fields or surroundings, especially this time of year when growers are more active during the harvest season.
