UCI Mountain Bike World Cup returns to Mont-Sainte-Anne for 2017
Vélirium presented by Vidéotron August 4–6, 2017.
Beaupré, Thursday, March 30, 2017 – Get ready for even more thrills and adrenaline rushes at this year’s 15th annual Vélirium presented by Vidéotron, featuring the 27th UCI Mountain Bike World Cup August 4–6 at Mont-Sainte-Anne. Over the long weekend of the festival, spectators are expected to turn out in their thousands to see the world’s elite cross-country and downhill mountain bike athletes strut their stuff.
What’s new for this year
As if the World Cup events taking place over the weekend weren’t already enough, Vélirium always boasts plenty of amateur competitions and events to keep the crowd entertained, and this year is no exception! To shift things up a gear or two for the 15th edition of the event this year, the Vélo Mag Raid presented by Camelbak features a completely redesigned 100 km course instead of the usual 80 km route, enabling mountain bike enthusiasts to weave their way through some exclusive terrain at Mont-Sainte-Anne.
Those who aren’t quite so daring can enter the usual 30 km or 60 km races or try their hand at a new 15 km “fun run” designed to encourage recreational riders to enter their first official event without all the pedal pressure.
Starting April 3, participants can register and choose their start time for the Vélo Mag Raid online at www.velirium.com. Meanwhile, the longstanding Véli-Kidz course presented by Normandin is back on the calendar again, giving the young stars of tomorrow their chance to wow the crowd.
As usual, some of the biggest names in mountain biking today will be setting up booths in the expo village at the foot of the mountain to whet visitors’ appetites for the latest gear. And let’s not forget the legendary parties in the Bud Light Lounge every night of the weekend.
Watch this space for details about the shows to look forward to soon.
