Unbeatable Rouge et Or March on

Looks like the Rouge et Or are unbeatable, again.

Laval University’s Rouge et Or football team will make history next Saturday November 23rd by becoming the first team to participate in the Vanier Cup for the fourth straight year.

Rouge et Or have been a strong team for the last eight years winning the Vanier Cup seven times.

The Vanier Cup is Canadian university footballs equivalent to the Grey Cup or the American Rose Bowl.

Saturday, in Sackville, New Brunswick, the Rouge et Or, who were heavy favourites, beat Mount Allison Mounties by a score of 48-21, winning the Uteck Bowl and a ticket to the final meeting to be held at PEPS (University Laval’s sports Centre).

This is the first time the Rouge et Or have won a semi-final in the Atlantic Region in three attempts. They had already won against their own league and against Ontario.

The Coach Glen Constantin, is happy for his team and is confident they’ll bring home the cup for an eighth time. The Vanier Cup will be played in Quebec City, giving the home team a huge advantage although they are already the favourites to win once again.

Win or lose the beer and BBQ’s will be out in force for those habitual Tailgate parties, that have become a tradition at University football games here and elsewhere on Saturday November 23.

Good luck to the home team from all of us here at LifeinQuebec.com.
