Upper Council of Education wants to improve the way science is taught

The Upper Council of Education for Québec believes that it is necessary to place more importance on the teaching of science and technology at the elementary school level.

ScienceIn a public notice last Thursday, they recommended that science and technology be given more time on the schedule of elementary schools.

The Council feels that the teaching of science and technology is most often cut short during the school schedule.  They also emphasize the fact that many teachers don’t feel competent in this area.

The Upper Council is therefore advocating for an improvement in the training of future teachers and to better coordinate the many resources available for the teaching of science and technology.

The Council consists of 22 members named by the government and professionals in the field of education as well as other sectors.  The Council serves to advise the ministers of education and superior teaching with all questions regarding education.
