What to do over the holidays in Quebec

Quebec City (Quebec) 24 December 2014 – The City and its tourist office (OTQ) would like its visitors and citizens to get outside and play during the Christmas break and they have some great suggestions for everyone.

Usually this time of year about 73% of the tourists are Quebecers from other parts of the province who are visiting family for the holidays.

There is a list of things that are operating throughout the season which everyone can enjoy in some way or another:

1) For $200 you can embark on a river crossing in one of the canoes used during the annual Carnival’s Canots à Glace competition. Hopefully there will be some ice on the river to make it more exciting.

2) A walk down Rue du petit Champlain is always interesting. The street was named the prettiest pedestrian street in Canada this year.

3) A visit to the Château Frontenac to see the decorations is always fun.

4) The famous toboggan slides at the Château are up and running until the 15 of March. You can reach 70km/hr if you’re really good.

5) The Marché du Vieux-Port is always open except for Dec. 25 and Jan.1.

6) There will celebrations going on starting Dec. 27 on Grande Allée around the parliament area with a giant Ferris wheel and other attractions until Jan. 1.

7) Last but not least, a light display with motion sensors can be experienced at St. Matthew’s cemetery on Rue St. Jean every night.
