Win a Copy of A Short History of Quebec

It’s competition time again and this time, we have a copy of Dr. Ed Whitcomb’s newly-released ‘A Short History of Quebec‘ to give away.

Read on to find out what you need to do to be in with a chance of winning a copy.

A Short History of Quebec is designed to provide the average reader with a quick but accurate survey of the broad outline of the province’s development. The emphasis in this book is on the political developments that shaped the province as it is today, subjects such as the Aboriginals, immigration and settlement, New France and the British conquest, the challenge of economic diversification and development, and the attainment of responsible government and Confederation. It explains the problems caused by World Wars I and II and the Depression, post-war battles with Ottawa for control of Quebec’s constitutional responsibilities, the decline of the Church and the rise of nationalism, the language debate, separation, and the overall theme of survival. The book ends with the 1995 referendum on separation, though several themes are mentioned in the post-referendum period.

Paperback, Pages: 92, ISBN 9780969466789, price $7.95.
